PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — Boorish jokes about female drivers are no less obnoxious or insulting if you’re an Olympian — and Elana Meyers Taylor has heard them all.
Meyers Taylor wants to back up her bronze in Vancouver and silver in Sochi with a spot at the top of the bobsled podium in South Korea, yet she knows that even fresh status as Olympic champion wouldn’t silence some sneering voices.
Bobsled’s women’s division offers only two-person competition at the Winter Games, but Meyers Taylor and Canada’s Kaillie Humphries decided to strike a blow for gender equality at the world championships in 2014.
