Reigning Olympic 100m butterfly champ Dana Vollmer will defend her title. This time as a mother.
She finished second in that event’s final Monday at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials, behind 21-year-old Kelsi Worrell. The top two advanced to the Rio Games.
Worrell touched in 56.48 seconds, Vollmer in 57.21.
Rio marks the third Olympics for Vollmer, who gave birth to a son in March 2015.
Worrell, from the University of Louisville, was the 2015 NCAA champion in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly.
