Croatia has its first medal of the 2016 Summer Olympics, and it’s gold.
Josip Glasnoviu0107 won gold for Croatia in the men’s trap shooting competition, beating Italy’s Giovanni Pellielo in the gold medal match. Glasnoviu0107, who finished fifth in the competition in Beijing eight years ago, won a gold medal in the event at the 2013 European Championships. A sudden death shootout was required to determine the gold medal winner, with Glasnoviu0107 following Pellielo’s miss in the fourth round with a hit to win gold.
Pellielo once again narrowly missed out on a gold medal, as he won silver in the men’s trap at both the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics.
