Of the six diving events to be held in Rio thus far, China has taken gold in five of them.
Cao Yuan was the latest gold medalist, as he won the 3m springboard competition. With a score of 547.60, Cao won by nearly 24 points over Great Britain’s Jack Laugher (523.85) in what was essentially a two-man race for gold. Laugher’s silver is Great Britain’s third diving medal of these games, as they took gold in the men’s synchronized 3m springboard and bronze in the men’s synchronized 10m platform.
Taking bronze was Germany’s Patrick Hausding with a total of 498.
