Four golds were dealt out Saturday morning in canoe-kayak, with Germany having a decidedly wonderful morning.
Germany managed a medal in each of the four events, with two golds, a silver and a bronze heading to their medal table.
It started with a razor-thin men’s kayak single 200m final, with Ronald Rauhe snaring a shared bronze with Spain’s Saul Craviotto. Great Britain’s Liam Heath won, and France’s Maxime Beaumont took silver.
Next was men’s canoe double 1000m, and the final saw Germany gain gold through Sebastian Brendel — one of the stars of these Olympics — and Jan Vandrey.
