RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — There is another British medal haul going on in the Olympic velodrome.
The women's team pursuit squad of Katie Archibald, Laura Trott, Elinor Barker and Joanna Rowsell-Shand beat the world champion United States in the finals at the Rio de Janeiro Games on Saturday, giving their powerful track cycling team its third gold medal of the program.
Britain won seven of the 10 gold medals possible four years ago in London, while its men's sprint team and men's pursuit team have already won gold in Rio.
Its pursuit team trailed the Americans after the first quarter of the race, but had pulled ahead by nearly a second by the midway point.
