With the Olympics having a rule that only two athletes can represent a nation in the individual all-around competition, one of the United States’ outstanding gymnasts was bound to be left on the sidelines for the women’s final. Unfortunately for Gabby Douglas, who won gold in the all-around four years ago, she’s the odd woman out.
Simone Biles, Aly Raisman and Douglas posted the top three scores of qualifying Sunday afternoon, with Biles’ score of 62.366 leading the way and Raisman in second with a score of 60.607. Four of the five subdivisions have been completed, with the United States part of that fourth group.
