American women win third consecutive world title in dominating fashion

GLASGOW, Scotland – By the end of the first rotation it looked likely the United States would win a third consecutive world gymnastics championship. By the second rotation, it seemed inevitable. By the third, it was a question of by how wide of margin.

The American women capped off a rout of the rest of the world, scoring 181.338 to win another championship here at The SSE Hydro. It’s the first time the USA has claimed a third consecutive title, making it the first team since Romania in the early 2000s to win three in a row.

They did it by being brilliant and flawless.
