American runners Alysia Montano and Brenda Martinez stand to receive world championship medals after the disqualification of Russian runner Mariya Savinova.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled last week that based on evidence from Savinova’s biological passport, she engaged in doping from July 26, 2010 to Aug. 19, 2013.
That time period included two International Association of Athletics Federations Championships and the London Olympics, where Savinova finished on the podium in all three competitions. The CAS decision disqualified her from her results during that time and suspended her for four years starting from Aug. 24, 2015.
