Led by four gymnasts in the top five of the all-around competition, the American men won team gold at the Pacific Rim Championships on Friday.
China’s Cai Weifeng won all-around gold at the XFINITY Arena in Everett, Wash., scoring 87.450. Americans Donnell Whittenburg (87.200) and Sam Mikulak (87.150) finished second and third, respectively.
John Orozco and Alex Naddour rounded out the top five, helping the United States score 355.950 to win team gold. China finished second with a score of 347.400 and Canada claimed bronze with 333.200.
The American men began the road to the Rio Olympics with a win despite a night that worsened as the competition wore on.
