With the Monarchs leading 18-12, North Carolina’s Chip Ness recorded three takedowns en route to a 7-3 victory over Austin Coburn in the 197-pound match that cut the lead to three.
The Tar Heels’ Cory Daniel then used three third-period takedowns and a stalling point to earn an 11-3 major decision over John D’Agostino at 285.
ODU’s Emilio Saavedra, Chris Mecate (by forfeit), Alexander Richardson, Robert Henderson and Jack Dechow had wins.
