Virginia Commonwealth scored a pair of second-half goals to erase a halftime deficit and defeat Old Dominion 2-1 in women’s soccer Thursday night at the ODU Soccer Complex.
Though the Lady Monarchs struck first, they got help from the Rams. VCU goalkeeper Audrey Sanderson bumped Iris Achterhof’s corner kick into the net for an own goal, giving ODU a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute.
The Rams tied it in the 51st minute, when Natalie Robles headed in Amanda Hallesjo’s corner kick for her first goal of the season.
VCU scored the winning goal off another corner in the 79th minute, when Sarah Gibson’s header made it 2-1.
