Senior Colleen VandePoel finished second in the 100 backstroke with an ODU-record time, while sophomore Ashley Brem earned a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke at the Conference USA Swimming Championship on Friday night.
VandePoel posted a time of 53.92 seconds to finish runner-up to Florida International’s Naomi Rucle.
The Lady Monarchs are in fifth place in the team standings.
