Tony Guzzo Named 2017 Bud Metheny Award Recipient

NORFOLK, Va. -- Former Old Dominion baseball head coach Tony Guzzo has been named the 40th recipient of the Bud Metheny Award for his contributions to baseball.

Guzzo, who has returned to the ODU baseball coaching staff this year as an assistant, will be honored at the annual ODU Baseball Banquet on Jan. 13 at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel. Jim Leyland will be this year's keynote speaker.

Guzzo coached in college baseball for 26 years, including 10 years at Old Dominion from 1995 to 2005. Overall, Guzzo compiled a 322-275-1 record during his ODU tenure, leading the Monarchs to two CAA regular season titles (1996, 2000), two CAA tournament titles (1995, 1996) and three NCAA regionals (1995, 1996, 2000).
