Norfolk State finished its women’s tennis season at 5-9 with a 4-0 loss to Bethune-Cookman in Thursday's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference quarterfinals on Old Dominion's courts.
NSU, the highest-seeded eligible team from the North Division, was playing a Wildcats team that was the fourth seed from the far stronger South Division. B-CU won a pair of doubles sets for a 1-0 lead and took three singles matches, including a 6-4, 6-4 victory by Chalina Godbolt over former Menchville and Hampton Roads Academy star Joyce Fields on line 4.
Also advancing were S.C. State, Florida A&M and N.C. Central, the three other South Division entrants.
