GENEVA, Ohio -- Freshman Steven Simpson and redshirt junior Michael Hayes turned in runner-up finishes while fellow freshman Alex Madrigal placed fifth at the 8th National Collegiate Open held in Geneva, Ohio.
Steven Simpson finished 2-1 on the day with two wins by fall. The freshman from Waldorf, Maryland fell to Justin Patrick of Buffalo, 8-7, in the finals at 125.
Michael Hayes went 3-1 en route to a runner-up finish at 141, picking up two majors and a 4-0 decision without yielding a single point heading into the finals.
