Jennie Simms was succinct in assessing her first half Friday night. Also candid.
“I (stunk) the first half,” she said tersely. “ It’s a good thing we’ve got a halftime in our game. (It allowed me) to get myself together.”
She did quickly, driving to the basket to make her first two third-quarter shots and feeding Destinee Young for more in Old Dominion’s 65-54 win over Norfolk State (1-2) in the Lady Monarchs’ season opener.
Simms scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half and added a game-high 14 rebounds, which tied a personal best.
