LIMA, Peru -- Maggie Simmermacher of the ODU women’s golf team turned in a runner-up finish at the renowned Individual South American Amateur Golf Championship on Sunday in Lima, Peru. The sophomore from Buenos Aires, Argentina shot a 69 in the final round of play to catapult her into second place among 53 of the world’s best amateur players, as she finished the event 73-70-70-69=282 (-6).
“This is a great achievement for Maggie to place so high in such a competitive tournament that features some of the world’s best golfers from all over the globe, Europe included,” head coach Andy Crabtree said.
