NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion Monarchs' five-game winning streak came to an end after suffering a 3-0 shutout at the hands of the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday afternoon at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. ODU fell to 24-11 overall and an even 7-7 in Conference USA, while UTSA improved to 13-21 on the season and 4-10 in league action.
UTSA took the 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning after Matt Hilston tripled down the right field line to score J.T. Gilmore from first base. Victor Diaz ended the inning by forcing the final two batters to ground out to third base.
