Old Dominion is picked to finish fifth in the 12-team Conference USA in baseball, according to a preseason poll of coaches announced Wednesday.
Three Monarchs were selected to the preseason all-conference team: senior outfielder Connor Myers, junior pitcher Sam Sinnen and sophomore infielder Zach Rutherford. ODU was the only program with three players selected.
Sinnen, a Kellam High product, led team with a 6-3 record in 2015, and his 2.84 ERA was second on the team. He struck out 53 in 66.2 innings and was a second-team All-Conference USA pick.
Rutherford, a Western Branch High graduate, started all but one game last spring, mostly at shortstop, as a freshman and was third on the team in hitting (.
