ODU's Rutherford in running for nation's top shortstop

Old Dominion junior Zach Rutherford has been named one of 13 semifinalists for the Brooks Wallace Award, which goes to the nation's top shortstop.

It will be presented later this summer by the College Baseball Foundation.

Rutherford, a Western Branch High grad who is rated the 99th-best MLB Draft prospect by Baseball America, is hitting .339 with a team-best with 20 doubles and 47 RBIs. He has started all 48 games at shortstop and has committed just three errors.
