Old Dominion’s Larry Early fell to Wisconsin’s Andrew Crone by a 7-1 decision at 157 pounds Saturday, finishing eighth at the prestigious Midlands wrestling tournament at Northwestern.
Early won five matches at the tournament. Five other Monarchs competed, but none placed.
The rest of the team traveled to the Lock Haven (Pa.) Classic on Friday, finishing second.
Steven Simpson (133), Kenan Carter (149), George Walton (184, unattached) and Will Hilliard (285, unattached) won their weight classes, while eight other Monarchs placed in the top four.
