IRVING, Texas -- The Old Dominion wrestling team sent wrestlers to two separate events this weekend, as three Monarchs competed at the United World Wrestling (UWW) Junior World Team Trials in Irving, Texas while many others represented the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center at the inaugural University Freestyle National Duals at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
On Saturday, Kenan Carter turned in a 1-2 performance in the 66kg bracket at the Junior World Team Trials. The rising redshirt freshman from Aurora, Illinois fell in the opening round to Vince Turk from Hawkeye Wrestling Club before ousting Steven Rando from Bayou Elite, 17-14, in the first round of consolations.
