CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Behind a blistering six hit, eight run second inning, the Old Dominion Monarchs claimed the series against Charlotte with an 8-5 victory over the 49ers in game two at Hayes Stadium.With the win, ODU moved to 29-17 overall and 12-11 in Conference USA play, while Charlotte fell to 19-28 on the year and 8-15 in league play.
After falling behind, 1-0, after the first inning the Monarchs strung together a six hit, eight run inning to propel ODU to an 8-1 lead. The scoring started with a double down the right field line by Turner Bishop (1-1) and was followed by a single up the middle by Chris Livers (2-1).
