ODU to complete study before accepting new stadium proposals

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A recent proposal submitted for a new Old Dominion University football stadium was rejected, but the deal with the company is not dead.

Back in March, local contractor, Stephen Ballard, gave ODU an unsolicited proposal to build a 25,000 seat football stadium as a public/private venture. The school rejected the proposal, as they are waiting on a million dollar consulting report they had done as their own inquiry. State law requires the school to give Ballard an answer to his proposal in 30 days.

ODU’s Board of Visitors feels the 30 days is not enough time to make a decision, and sent the deal back to Ballard, with a chance to resubmit it at a later date.
