HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Six Southern Miss pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout, and Old Dominion surrendered its first series sweep this season with a 9-0 loss to the Golden Eagles in the finale of a Conference USA baseball series at Pete Taylor Park.
Southern Miss (15-6, 6-0) batted around in a seven-run first inning sparked by Matthew Guidry’s two-run homer.
Erick Hoard, who batted 3 for 4 and finished with three RBIs and two runs scored, added a solo home run in the fifth.
Sean Tweedy (2-0) earned the win, giving up one hit in 2 1/3 innings of relief.
