Right-hander Nick Pantos allowed three hits and a run over 5.1 innings and Kyle Battle and Matt Schwarz had RBIs in Old Dominion's 2-1 victory over Binghamton in the first of a three-game nonconference baseball series Friday at Bud Metheny Complex.
Matt Burch doubled to lead off the bottom of the first. He went to second on a wild pitch, then gave the Monarchs a 1-0 lead when he scored on a fielder's choice by Schwarz. ODU made it 2-0 in the third when Bryce Windham singled, stole second and scored on Battle's single.
After allowing a run and exiting in the sixth, Puntos (2-0) got plenty of bullpen help.
