Before he played a game, one of Old Dominion's incoming basketball players has been lost for the season.
Greg McClinton, a graduate transfer from Wake Forest, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and had reconstructive surgery last week, coach Jeff Jones said Saturday.
The 6-foot-7 McClinton was expected to be a key front court player for the Monarchs. He was recruited to fill a need at power forward created by the graduation of Denzell Taylor, a defensive and rebounding specialist.
"He wouldn't have taken up all of Denzell's minutes, but he would have played a lot," Jones said.
