NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University football head coach Bobby Wilder has promoted Help and Emergency Response, INC. (H.E.R.) for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The H.E.R. Shelter is a private, non-profit agency, certified by the United Way of South Hampton Roads, and the statewide coalition: Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance (VSDVAA). They house three shelters in Hampton Roads, two for domestic violence victims, and one for homeless families. There are approximately 450 women and children in the shelters.
In 2012, Wilder helped create the male mentoring program, which pairs up male mentors with the male children in the shelter.
