Mike Nyisztor's RBI double in the eighth inning put Rutgers ahead to stay, and the Scarlet Knights held on for a 7-6 nonconference baseball victory over Old Dominion on Friday at the Bud Metheny Complex.
The Monarchs (3-6) took a 4-0 lead in the first inning on Matt Schwarz's three-run triple and stayed in front until the seventh. That's when the Rutgers' Chris Folinusz hit a solo homer, his first of the season, to tie it at 4.
After Nyisztor put the Scarlet Knights (4-4) in front 5-4 in the eighth, he scored on a pickoff play at first to make it 6-4.
