Kyle Beam led off the 10th inning with a solo home run Saturday, giving Old Dominion a 5-4 victory over West Virginia in the opener of a non-conference baseball doubleheader at Monongalia County Ballpark.
The second game is in progress.
The Monarchs led 4-1 after 8½ innings, but the Mountaineers tied it with three runs in the bottom of ninth. West Virginia scored on Nick Hartman’s wild pitch before Cole Austin’s two-run double made it 4-4.
Beam and Nick Walker (Kellam) had two hits each for ODU (11-3).
Despite allowing the tying runs, Hartman (2-0) earned the victory.
