HOUSTON, Texas -- The Old Dominion baseball team suffered a series sweep after falling to the Rice Owls 8-2 on Sunday afternoon at Reckling Park. The Monarchs fell to 18-7 overall and 3-3 in Conference USA, while the Owls improved to 14-9 and 5-1 in league action.
After Ricardo Salinas retired six straight ODU batters, including five strikeouts, the Monarchs got in a groove in the top of the third. Nick Lustrino led off single to right and was followed by another hit to right field by designated hitter Turner Bishop. Both runners advanced a bag after a passed ball, giving Connor Myers the change to hit a RBI single to left field.
