WACO, Texas - The No. 24 nationally ranked Old Dominion women’s tennis team (13-2) outlasted No. 50 Baylor (5-12) by a 4-3 score on Sunday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center.
ODU’s doubles tandems Nataliia Vlasova/Natalya Malenko (6-1) and Holly Hutchinson/Brooke Pilkington (6-2) combined to give the Monarchs an early 1-0 advantage.
Alesya Yakubovich didn't waste any time picking up a straight singles victory (6-1, 6-0) on Court No. 6 to give Old Dominion a 2-0 lead.
Brooke Pilkington continued her hot streak, defeating Stephanie Adames (6-2, 6-4), extending ODU’s lead to 3-0.
Baylor roared back tying the match at 3-3; however, Yulia Starodubtseva sealed the deal with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Paula Barañano.
