BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Ryan Teschko’s RBI single capped a four-run 11th inning Sunday, and Old Dominion held on for a 9-5 win over Alabama-Birmingham to clinch the Conference USA baseball series at Young Memorial Field.
The series win was the Monarchs’ first in league play since May 2017. ODU (18-13, 3-9) had lost or split 14 straight series.
The Monarchs trailed 5-0 after five innings before Vinnie Pasquantino’s three-run homer sparked a five-run eighth to help send the game to extras. Teschko plated the tying run with an RBI single.
ODU got four shutout innnings of relief from Aaron Holiday before the Blazers (14-19, 2-10) loaded the bases in the 10th.
