Monarchs outslug Binghamton for first series win since 2017

NORFOLK — Tommy Bell batted 4 for 5 with two doubles and four RBIs, and Old Dominion held on for 12-9 win over Binghamton in a nonconference baseball game at the Bud Metheny Complex.

The victory gave ODU (3-2) a two- game sweep after Friday’s 2-1 decision and their first series win since May 2017.

Kyle Battle’s two run homer sparked the Monarchs’ six-run fifth, and Matt Schwarz’s solo homer madie it 9-1 after seven innings.

The Bearcats rallied with a six-run eighth, but ODU tacked on three more runs in the bottom half, capped by Bell’s two-run double.
