Grey played first base at ODU from 2013 to 2017, before foregoing his redshirt senior season to join the Keydet coaching staff. The Finwood connection is not the only link between the two schools. Chris Finwood played his college ball at VMI in the late 80s, where he was an All-SoCon shortstop. He then went on to serve as the head coach for the Keydets from 1992 to 1994.
