RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. -- The Old Dominion women's golf team defeated UNLV on the first day of SDSU's March Mayhem on Monday at The Farms Golf Club. The Monarchs got underway against No. 5 USC in the quarterfinals, but the match was postponed due to darkness.
In the first round of the 16-team match play bracket, No. 9 seed ODU topped eighth-seeded UNLV. Katerina Vlasinova took her match 4&2 over Elizabeth Prior, while Sana Tufail won 2&1 over Mackenzie Ralm. Rachel Walker and Maggie Simmermacher narrowly fell to their opponents, but Charlotte De Corte squeaked past Harley Dubsky to advance ODU into the second round.
