Monarchs Blank South Carolina in C-USA Quarterfinal, 2-0

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (10-5-2, 7-2-0 C-USA) men’s soccer team topped South Carolina (6-9-2, 2-5-2 C-USA) in the C-USA quarterfinal on Wednesday night at the ODU Soccer Complex, 2-0. Goals by Tom Wustenberg and Jimmy Filerman in the second half propelled the Monarchs over the Gamecocks on a wet night.

The Monarchs and Gamecocks remained scoreless through the first half. Old Dominion took the advantage in shots, 7-3.

In the 49th minute, Tom Wustenberg scored his first career goal as a Monarch.

Not long after, off a clearance by South Carolina, Jimmy Filerman blasted one past the Gamecock goalkeeper to extend the Monarch lead, 2-0.
