Old Dominion's John Wilson and Craig Lopez combined on a four-hit shutout in the Monarchs' series-clinching 3-0 victory Sunday over Charlotte in Conference USA baseball at Bud Metheny Complex.
Wilson (5-0), a true freshman left-hander, allowed three hits in seven innings. He struck out four and didn't walk a batter. Lopez allowed a hit over the final two innings to earn his fourth save and complete ODU's second straight shutout. After a 2-0 victory in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, Monarchs pitchers have a streak of 23 scoreless innings.
Vinnie Pasquantino broke a scoreless tie in the sixth with a two-run home run, extending his hitting streak to 14 games.
