VCU headed down Interstate 64 to take on the Monarchs in front of sold out crowd that whited out the Ted. VCU spoiled former ODU great Kent Bazemore’s homecoming with a 67-64 victory. Bazemore had his jersey retired and was inducted into the ODU Ring of Honor.
“As hard as we played, and our guys played really, really hard, as well as we played for the most part defensively, obviously the free throws and the handful of opportunities we had. When we came away with nothing, playing hard is not enough,” ODU head coach Jeff Jones said.
ODU started off hot, jumping out to an early double-digit lead as they shot the lights out shooting 57 percent in the first half and knocked down 6-of-8 three-pointers.
