My mother was a nurse during World War II and my sister-in-law is a nurse who works for a pharmaceutical company. I have so many cousins who were or still are nurses in the midwest that I can't count them all.
I have great admiration for the women and men who care for the sickest in society, administering medicine, changing bedpans and managing patient care.
So it was disturbing to learn that I offended some in the nursing profession last week in a column I wrote about former Old Dominion and Princess Anne High School women's basketball player Galaisha Goodhope, who made the most of her second chance at VCU.
