NORFOLK, Va. - In the 108th minute of play, ETSU (1-1) scored a golden goal, which clinched the match in double overtime for the Buccaneers. The Monarchs (0-2) fell by a 3-2 final score on Monday night.
Through the first 45 minutes of play, ODU and ETSU were scoreless. True freshman Djibril Doumbia made six saves in the first half alone. Doumbia totaled seven saves on the night.
Five minutes into the second half, Deniz Dogan was awarded a penalty kick, which he knocked in to give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead. In the 78th minute, ETSU tied it up off a penalty kick.
