Down 10-2, Old Dominion needed a big rally Sunday on Senior Day to clinch its home finale.
The Monarchs got it, scoring nine runs in the seventh inning, surging to an 11-10 victory over Florida Atlantic to clinch the Conference USA baseball series at Bud Metheny Complex.
The final six runs of the inning came on two big blasts by Kellam High graduates – a grand slam by Nick Walker made it 10-9, and a two-run homer by Turner Bishop gave ODU the lead. Zach Rutherford (Western Branch) hit a two-run single earlier in the inning after Shaun Wood scored on a throwing error.
