The crosstown rivalry between Old Dominion and William & Mary has been nothing but lopsided.
Entering Sunday’s game against the Tribe, the Lady Monarchs held a 56-5 edge in the series.
But for the second straight year, William & Mary defied history, staving off a fourth-quarter rally to sink Old Dominion 69-58. The Tribe were coming off a 38-point win over Richmond on Nov. 18.
“We haven’t been around the whole series (against ODU),” William & Mary coach Ed Swanson said, “… but any win’s a great win.”
Senior guard Jennie Simms led the way for ODU with a game-high 28 points, but also had nine turnovers.
