Grassfield rising senior Austin Wood committed Monday to Old Dominion .
Wood, 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, becomes the second player from South Hampton Roads to commit to the Monarchs, joining Tallwood defensive end Cameron Washington.
“ODU is a great fit for me because it’s close to home,” said Wood, who played last season at Great Bridge.
“And my brothers graduated from there and my sister is going there now. And I love their coaches.”
Wood said he has played receiver for most of his career but recently switched to defensive back after attending several one-day camps.
