Four Former Monarchs Set to Compete in MLB Playoffs

NORFOLK, Va. - The 2019 MLB Playoffs begin on Tuesday evening, and ODU baseball will have four former Monarchs competing with three different clubs. Justin Verlander (Houston Astros), Ryan Yarbrough (Tampa Bay Rays), Daniel Hudson (Washington Nationals) and bench coach Matt Quatraro (Tampa Bay Rays) will see action in the MLB Postseason.

With the Houston Astros, Verlander has made 33 starts this season with a 2.53 ERA. Verlander and the Astros will face off against Oakland or Tampa Bay on Friday in the AL Wild Card game. Earlier in September, Verlander became the sixth pitcher in MLB history to pitch three no-hitters.
