Former Old Dominion baseball head coach Tony Guzzo was named the 40th recipient of the Bud Metheny Award for his contributions to baseball.
Guzzo, who returned to the Monarchs coaching staff this year as an assistant, will be honored at the annual ODU baseball banquet on Jan. 13 at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel. Jim Leyland is this year’s keynote speaker.
Guzzo coached college baseball for 26 years, including 10 at ODU from 1995-2005. He was 322-275-1 at ODU, leading the Monarchs to two CAA regular season titles, two CAA tournament titles and to three NCAA regionals.
