ATHENS, Ga. - Junior Ashley Brem won the 100 breaststroke for Old Dominion University women's swimming and diving Friday night at the Conference USA Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. The win is the first of the championships for the Monarchs as they glided into fifth place with one day left of competition.
Brem became the first Monarch to place on the podium this week, claiming a time of 1:00.75 to win the 100 breaststroke, outlasting Marie-Claire Schillinger of Rice by .14. It is the first career victory at the C-USA Championships for Brem, after finishing third in the 100 breaststroke last year, and second as a freshman.
