In a major blow for the Old Dominion basketball team, forward Trey Porter, the Monarchs’ top inside player, has received his release and plans to transfer.
The website Verbal Commits first reported Porter’s release, adding him Tuesday night to its list of 280 players who plan to switch schools.
Porter emailed the website with the news and a copy of his release form, according to Verbal Commits CEO Nathan LeClair.
Porter later confirmed his decision to the Virginian-Pilot.
Porter’s high school coach, Keith Honore, also confirmed that Porter received his release, as did two other sources.
