NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University senior outfielder Kyle Battle received All-American distinctions from a fourth publication this spring on Monday, when D1Baseball named him a Third Team All-American. Battle – who has also been recognized by ABCA/Rawlings, Baseball America and the NCBWA – becomes just the third Monarch to receive All-American accolades from four separate outlets, joining Tim Hummel and Anthony Shawler.
The native of Glen Allen, Virginia, Battle was the Conference USA leader and is ranked 16th nationally with 18 home runs. Fourteen of those 18 homers came against C-USA competition. Additionally, Battle led off the ODU first inning with a home run five times this season, and the Monarchs won all five of those games.
